The Brooklyn rapper born Dante Terrell Smith, will retire his stage name 'Mos Def' next year and go by 'Yasiin' (not sure how it's pronounced???).
He made the announcement during an interview with Peter Rosenberg for MTV (US) show Sucker Free during the Rock The Bells show last weekend.
The Mighty Mos is not the first rapper to have a name change, granted Yasiin is not as cathcy as Mos Def, but he is quite a conscious person and must have good reasons behind it.
We accepted Common going from Common Sense to Common too... But he'll always be Mos' to us!
To be fair I don't think he is relevant in the rap game anymore. But a legend none the less!
