Two days ago (7th February) marked what would have been the 40th birthday of rapper Christopher Lee Carlos Rios aka Big Pun. The rapper who was regarded as one of the best who ever did it passed away after suffering from heart attack aged 28.
The Puerto Rican Bronx native emerged from the underground rap scene in 1997 on the Beatnuts track, 'Off The Books', and later went on to featuring on Fat Joe's 'Jealous One's Envy' album before signing a solo deal with Loud Records.
Later, 'I'm Not a Player' (featuring an O'Jays sample) was supported by a significant advertising campaign and became an underground hit.
Pun released two albums 'Capital Punishment' (1998) and 'Yeeeah Baby' (2000) and was part of the Terror Squad with Fat Joe and Remy Ma.
