Today marks fourteen years since the tragic passing of The Notorious B.I.G.
The Brooklyn born rapper was injured during a drive-by in Los Angeles after leaving a Vibe Magazine party. The rapper died later that night from his injuries at Cedras Senai hospital.
His second studio album 'Life After Death' was released fifteen days later and topped the charts immediately. The album has since been certified Diamond, an achievement not many can claim.
To this day his murder is still unsolved, there are many conspiracy theories, but nothing concrete enough to bring anyone to justice.
Biggie birthed the career of many rappers who always credit him as one of their main sources of inspiration. Still regarded as one of the best to ever do it, his spirit still lives on through friend and mentor Diddy (aka Puff Daddy), close friend Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter and Lil Kim and Lil' Cease, both formerly of Junior Mafia.
Although he is no longer with us, his music is still very much relevant! I wonder what the rap game would be like if he was still alive?
Would he still be spittin'?
Would some of the more popular artists around now have even come out?
Unfortunately we'll never know...
