Co-founder and former chief executive of US technology giant Apple, Steve Jobs, has died at the age of 56. Millions of people the world over have been paying tribute to the man who revolutionised technology after he passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Apple issued a statement say-
Mr Jobs had been "the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives" and had made the world "immeasurably better".
Many people also took to Twitter and other media outlets to express their sadness at his death, as well as leaving floral tributes and messages at Apple stores throughout the world.
Barack Obama- "There may be no greater tribute to Steve's success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented."
Bill Gates- "The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honour."
Mark Zuckerberg- "Steve, thank you for being a mentor and a friend. Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world. I will miss you."
David 'Killa Cam' Cameron- "Steve Jobs transformed the way we work and play; a creative genius who will be sorely missed."
The former Apple CEO announced he had cancer in 2004, he then took medical leave in January '11 before resigning in August.
Steve Jobs leaves behind his wife Linda and four children.
