iOS 6 Now Available!!!

The new iOS 6 is available for download on the iPhone 4/4s, iPad, and as of tomorrow the iPhone 5.

For those of you sceptical about making the jump over, other than the 45-60min download time, I'd definitely recommend it!

iPhone 5 To Be Cased In Liquid Metal...

The iPhone 5, likely to be released later this year, is expected to be cased in a ‘metallic glass’, otherwise known as Liquidmetal, says a Korean news outlet citing ‘industry sources’.

The case is expected to be 20 times stronger than the current encasement. According to The Register, ‘metallic glass is a metal alloy, but one with the disordered structure of glass’. The material has been around since the 1990s, but since a new breakthrough in ‘superspeed pulse mould technology’, this type of glass, which is as tough as metal, can now be used for phone casings.

An Apple spokesman declined to comment on rumours and speculation.

The technology giant has signed an exclusive deal with Liquidmetal Techologies Ltd, the inventors of the material. Apple is believed to have paid $11m for the exclusive arrangement.

The part of the new iPhone expected to be made out of metallic glass is the back casing – as opposed to the glass display.

The same Korean news outlet has also predicted that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3, due to launch on May 3 in London, will be made out of high-tech ceramics.

iPad 3 Expected After March 7th...?

Apple has announced an event on 7 March at which the company is expected to launch its latest iPad tablet.

The new iPad 3 will sport a high definition screen, run a more powerful processor and will tap into next generation wireless networks, the latest tablet will use a quad-core chip, an enhancement that lets users jump more quickly between applications.

Invitations sent to journalists read: 'We have something you really have to see. And touch.'

While not officially confirming the product's launch, the message was accompanied by an image showing what looked to be an iPad touchscreen.

The iPad range, which first launched in 2010, has sold more than 50 million units worldwide. It is not yet known when the new device will be available for sale.

Last year, sales of the iPad 2 began in the US nine days after the launch announcement - which also took place in March.

Unfortunately this iPhone accessory does not yet exist, but it could sometime in the future! I'd definitely look in to purchasing one for my iPhone 5 (future thinking ofcourse).

New Blackberry Smartphones On The Way...

"Amidst all the predictions and rumours in the weeks leading up to Apple’s iOS 5 announcement on Monday, Apple somehow managed to keep possibly one of the most significant new features well and truly hidden under its hat.

According to MacRumors and Daring Fireball, iMessage was so secret that even Apple’s mobile carrier partners had to find out about it at the keynote speech, along with the rest of us! Since then, the announcement that Apple is essentially ushering in its own BBM-killer has sent shockwaves through the industry.

There probably weren’t too many smiling faces at BlackBerry-maker RIM following Apple’s announcement on Monday, and as TechRadar reports, the news has already had a serious effect on RIM’s stocks, which fell to a four-year low on Tuesday, taking them below $37. As TechRadar notes, up until Apple’s announcement, BlackBerry Messenger was the only IM service of its type around, and very popular too.

According to Cult of Mac’s in-depth look at iMessage, it is not a standalone app, but in fact iMessages and SMS Texts combined into one app, Messages, meaning that you don’t have to switch between apps.

 According to Cult of Mac, Messages will automatically check whether or not the phone you’re trying to send an SMS message to is an iPhone with iOS 5 installed, and if it is, Messages will automatically send an iMessage instead of an SMS. The program will then update your Address Book, and a chat bubble will appear next to that person’s entry to indicate that they have iMessage.

It will also give you the option to turn off SMS messaging altogether so that you only send iMessages, or vice versa. Even if you only have an iPod touch and no iPhone, you can send and receive iMessages via your Apple ID."



Apple say they are going to test iMessage for a couple of months before they release it. Let the battle begin!

Android Phones Easier To HAck Than iPhone

According to researchers in Germany, Android phones are easier to hack than iPhones. Any version of Android prior to OS 2.3.3 are vulnerable to an attack thanks to a weak ClientLogin authentication protocol.

So basically, if you log in to Facebook, Twitter or your email account, your info is stored for 14 days and can be accessed by hackers.

"To collect such authTokens on a large scale an adversary could setup a wifi access point with a common SSID (Service Set Identifier) of an unencrypted wireless network, e.g., T-Mobile, tarbucks...With default settings, Android phones automatically connect to a previously known network and many apps will attempt syncing immediately. While syncing would fail (unless the adversary forwards the requests), the adversary would capture authTokens for each service that attempted syncing."

There is a way to from Google, but those with Android mobile phones are advised to use trusted sites only. Don't know what it is but, Android phones have never appealed to me. Although the other day a friend of mine showed me how he can turn his handset in to a Wi-Fi Hotspot which could come in handy.


I'ma stick to my Blackberry Torch and iPhone4 for now...
