Carter IV Breaks Watch The Throne First Week Sales

Lil Wayne's 'Carter IV' has broken The Throne's (Jay and Kanye) first week iTunes album sales just two weeks after they broke Cold Play's record. Weezy accomplished the same feat in just four days!

More than 300,000 people downloaded CIV after it's midnight release on Monday 29th August, and the album is now expected to to hit between 925,000-975,000 units which is a massive jump on originally estimated 850,00-900,000.

'Watch The Throne' broke records with 290,000 in it's first week.

The Throne Break iTunes Sales Record

Jay-Z and Kanye West's collaborative album Watch the Throne broke the record set by Jay's mate Chris Martin and the Coldplay boys for the best-ever first week sales for a new album in the iTunes store.

The Watch The Throne album was available exclusively on iTunes before it went on general release sold 290,000 copies whilst Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends sold 282,000 copies in June 2008.

So far the album has sold somewhere between 410-450,000 copies. With two versions available to buy (the deluxe has 15 tracks whereas the original only has 12), the UK has been shown major love again as you can get both in your local HMV, you may have to request the deluxe version be brought to you from the stock room like I did though.

Make sure you copp WTT, it's an essential purchase.

Watch The Throne Tracklist

Here's the rumoured tracklist for the Jay-Z and Kanye joint album 'Watch The Throne'.

Since it was leaked sources are now confirming that it is official but has a few tracks missing that will be added before it's mid-July release.

Watch The Throne To Be Released In March???

Over the New Years Eve weekend Yeezy announced his joint album with Hov would drop the first week of January, but sources at Def Jam now say that the LP has a solid release date for March 2011.

The first as yet untitled single is also set to land on January 11th, but the likelyhood is it will hit the net this weekend/next week.

I hope this album does actually come out, but with Kanye's 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' still riding high and 'Monster' just being released, I think WTT will surface sometime during June/July.
