Thierry Henry Returns To Arsenal FC On Short-term Loan...

The Arsenal legend has returned to the club on a short -term loan whilst the American MLS is on break.

Henry is still Arsenals leading goal scorer, and will be part of the team for the next two months as we continue to rebuild out team after a shaky start.

He will be wearing the number 12 shirt as his old number 14 was taken by Theo Walcott.

Hopefully Henry won't be the only new addition this January...

Arsenal Beat Barcelona 2-1

To all those who read my 'Gooners Prayer' yesterday, THANK YOU!!

In a fantastic footballing night at The Emirates, goals from David Villa, and more importantly Robin van Persie and Andrei Arshavin saw Arsenal win a first leg Champions League game which everyone expected us to lose!

The Spanish Champions did not disappoint as they pressed Arsenal from the beginning with their silky passing and skills. Barca went ahead on 26 minutes when Messi fed a ball to David Villa who then nutmegged 'keeper Szczesny as Gooners everywhere began to think the worst. This is after Messi missed a chance in the beginning stages of the match and Robin Van Persie missed a glorious chance to equalise fired just wide.. The Gunners then saw out the rest of the half, but no one could predict what was to come.

Arsenal began strong in the second half pressing Barcelona who again retained a lot of the ball. Arsenal gave as good as they got and had a few chances, but could not put the chances away. Alex Song was replaced on 68 mintues by Andrei Arshavin, just as well because he could have been sent off after picking up a yellow card. On 77 minutes Nicklas Bendtner came on for Theo Walcott, who played well, but could not seem to break Barca's defence, this is when things changed!

On 78 minutes Gael Clichy chipped a shot in to the waiting Robin Van persie on his weaked right foot and what came next had to be seen twice as RVP equalised from a very accute angle and the Arsenal faithful in the Emirates raised the roof , could Arsenal smell an upset???

At this point I was reasdy for the referee to blow the whistle, but Arsenal had not finished. After another Barcelona attack Jack Wilshere came away with the ball, dribbled up filed, found Cesc Fabregas who played a first time ball to Samir Nasri who cut in from the right, held up the ball, fed the oncoming Arshavin who cooly curled the ball past the stranded Victor Valdes.

This is set up the longest 7 minutes +2 for extra time, but we made it through to set up a thrilling secong leg at the Nou Camp in two weeks where i'm pretty sure the Spainards will want some revenge!

Look out for the second 'Gooners Prayers' soon...

A Gooners Prayer

Dear lord

Please guide and protect our men tonight as we aim for glory! May no ankle be twisted or broke and no hamstring be pulled.

Lord we ask that you stem the flow of attack upon attack from the Spaniards, put your hands upon Chesney’s and allow him to let no ball pass the hallowed posts and lead us in to despair.

Let us sing a 'Song’ of triumph as Cesc sprays balls on to the waiting holy head and left peg of Robin of Holland, and allow the youthful ability of Theo to walk on grass as he leaves no stone unturned and no defender by his side as he reigns down on the clock end goal to heaven!

Although we wish no injury on last season’s oppressors, give us the strength to overcome the giant that is Xavi and the miracle that is Messi as they send thunder bolts down on to our beloved Emirates turf.

Give Kos, Johan, Eboue and Gael the strength and determination of David as you did against Goliath and spare Denilson when he is in trouble, whilst not leading the Russian in to temptation.

In Arsene’s name we pray…

The almighty Gooners!

Arsenal Reach The Carling Cup Final

Arsenal booked their place in the 2011 Carling Cup Final last night with a 3-0 (3-1 on aggregate) win over Championship side Ipswich Town.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Arsene Wenger fileded a strong Arsenal side at the Emirates knowing we needed a win to book our place in our first cup final since beating Manchester United on penalties in the FA Cup Final five years ago.

With a packed stadium of which 9,000 of the 60,000 supporters were Ipswich Town fans, Arsenal set out to nick an early goal, but were frustrated after wave upon wave of attacks were defended by the away team + losing Bacary Sagna to injury early doors. Going in 0-0 at half-time was a bit worrying with only Robin Van Persie hitting the cross bar and Cesc firing across goal, but I think all TRUE Gooners knew the goals were coming, and on 60 minutes Jack Wilshere crossed a beautiful diag' ball in to the waiting Nicklas Bendtner who cut in on Carlos Edwards to cooly curl one in from just inside the box. That goal was rapidly followed by a second headed in by Laurent Koscielny from an Arshavin corner.

As the Arsenal faithful began to make plans for a day out at Wembley, the game was finally put to bed by the Captain, Cesc Fabregas who played a little one-two with Arshavin to nutmeg the Ipswich Town 'keeper.

Speaking via his website after the match Andrei arshavin said-

"We took a very seriously approach to this game, tried to "crush" our opponents from the very first minute of the match. We expected to score a quick first goal. But after the first 45 minutes, the score was still 0-0.

"During the break Arsene told us to play in the same high-tempo and try to speed up. He said that there would come a moment when the Ipswich players would get tired and then it would get more and more difficult for them to hold back our attacks. The coach asked us to keep our cool, not to make hasty, ill-considered passes, take care of the ball. He was sure that there would come a moment when we’d press them out.

"Actually, we played that way and that led to the Nicklas's goal. I would say that the goal came at the right time. Here it’s worth pointing out not only his skills in finishing this chance off, but also a Wilshere’s great cross to Bendtner.

"This goal allowed us to lift some kind of inner tension from the team and our fans. Once we started to lead the score, the game became easier. Soon we scored a good goal from a set piece."

Although some people see the Carling Cup as less important than say the FA Cup and Champions League, I think this will be a great springboard for us which will hopefully lead to more glory and achievements in the latter stages of the season!

West Ham travel to Birmingham tonight with a slim 2-1 lead from their first leg. We don't really care who we get to be honest, they will be dealt with NOICELY!!!

WE'RE ON OUR WAY TO WEMBLEY!!!

Samir Nasri Named French Footballer Of The Year

Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has been named french Footballer Of The Year.

The pint-sized 23 year old Arsenal star saw of tough competition from chelseas Flornet Malouda and Lyon 'keeper Hugo Lloris.

The star has so far had a very good season with Arsenal after the disappointment of not getting a call up to the French national squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. This actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the team, lead by Manchester United blabber mouth Patrice Evra disgraced themselves.

The star attributes a few months of complete rest to his fantastic form in the premiership thus far. The award was voted for by the media and former French footballing stars including Laurent Blanc, Raymond Kopa, marius Tresor, Alain Giresse and Jean Tigana.

Well done Sami'

Weekend Round-Up

The snow arrived this weekend to cement the F*CKERY COLD WEATHER that we are being subjected to of late! With christmas also under a month away that Coca Cola truck ad is now on tv and supermarkets are trying to undercut each other on Celebrations/Roses and Quality Street tubs.

Channel 4 screened the Birmingham/British film '1 Day' this week and I honestly can't remember the last time I caught so much jokes with my Twitter folk! Shout out to @Madnewsblog and @XianLoves. A lot of people didn't have anything good to say about it, but I enjoyed it when I first saw a while back. Also, if you check out the DVD extras you'll see that the actors in the film are doing a lot of positive work for their communities...

Boom Boom (my daughter) was with Granddad for the weekend so I figured I'd take advantage and get back on the socialising scene as I'd be able to lay in on Saturday and Sunday morning. If I had to choose some choice statements to describe the parties on Friday and Saturday night/early morning they would be- (insert alcoholic beverage here) _________ & Red Bull, bashment songs I've never heard and don't care to again, dark skinned Nicki Minaj and Sagitarian birthday celebrations.

Now I know I may sound like a hypocrite, but I logged back on to X Factor this week, mainly to see who would go and let's just say justice was served!

My prediction for the final three is Matt (minus the wife-beater), One Direction (who met their inspiration this week Justin Bieber) and 'stiff as hell' Rebecca.

My boys (THE MIGHTY ARSENAL) got back to winning ways after a week to forget, Berbatov sent Man U to the top of the table with 5 goals against Blackburn whilst Chelsea lost ground up at Newcastle. This week an incredible 41 goals were scored in the premiership.

A lot of new music this week with albums from Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Miguel, Black Eyed Peas, Jasmine Sullivan, and mixtapes from Marsha Ambrosius, Chris Breezy and Trey Songz. Make sure you check out my album reviews at http://socialwriters.blogspot.com/...

Finally, I would like to salute Miss Keri Hilson for her 'The Way You Love Me' video *Ciara who?* and a MASSIVE shout to YOU, YOU and YOU for returning to the blog daily as I hit 1000+ views in a little over a month.

Thank you!

Keep it NERDish...

Weekend Round-Up

So another weekend has come and gone... My adventures took me to Croydon this weekend. After hitting up Zara and Office I saw that the Blackberry Torch was FINALLY available on Tief-Mobile. Let's cut a long story short basically, to get the phone I would have to change my tarif and take a deal that would give me less than what I have now (in terms of minutes etc...). Let's just say I was unable to speech the sales assistant and I will more than likely be leaving T-Mobile by Christmas time...

I'm REALLY starting to lose interest in X Factor this year. Wagner is joke ("Love Shack"), Paije keeps scrapping through, Katie's chin can apparently do the 'Nuh Linga' (via the homie @XianLoves), Aiden is scarily intense and TreyC still hasn't found her true style.

I get the feeling Dannii won't be on the judges panel next year as she seems to get more and more unpopular. I won't be going out of my way to tune in everyweek now, and as I type this Belle Amie and Katie are in the bottom two!

Pissed!!! Belle Amie just got sent home...

In more exciting news, my boys THE MIGHTY ARSENAL FC continued to march up the premier league table with a hard-fought win over West Ham. Chelsea snuck a win at Blackburn, Man U got the craziest result against the dirty Yids and Man City lost at Wolves (Great Times)...

Have to send a special shout-out to Newcastle manager Chris Hughton. After all the furore around his future at the club (let's not mention the beating we gave them in the Carling Cup on Wednesday), he guided Newcastle to a very convincing 5-1 win over their North-East Rivals Sunderland and was named on the Blacklist 50 2010.

Keep up the good work Sir, we need more black men in postions of power, especially in football.
