New Music: Elle Varner- Conversational Lush Mixtape ****GET TO KNOW!***

I came across this young lady's mixtape and by the time I listened to 'Runaway', I was hooked!

Her style is very refreshing, but polished, and although her sound is very RnB/Soul, her lyrical content is what impresses me the most.

'WTF' is the tale of a day where everything that could go wrong actually does, but Elle is still able to find solace in the maddness. Another stand out track is the inspirational women's anthem 'So Fly', which let's you know that it's OK to be you, just make the most of it because no one will love you if you don't love yourself.

Every track is worth listening to, this has gone straight on my iPhone/Pad 2.. Let me know what you think!

Defo one to look out for...

Ne-Yo Signs With Motown Records And Becomes Senior VP And A&R

According to sources, Ne-Yo has left Def Jam Records and has signed on to be Senior VP at Motown Records.

The RnB crooner will also bring his Compound imprint with him. The singer said in a statement-

"I’m honored that I¹ve been given such a prestigious title and trusted with such responsibility; terrified because I know that playing this role in the fashion of one of my career role models, Mr. Smokey Robinson, these are big shoes to fill. But trust, I can handle it."

It's a bigg move for the singer, but also an extemely good look. I wish him all the best. Ne-Yo will also be dropping his 5th studio album titled 'The Cracks In Mr Perfect', this summer.

Earlier this year, the 20-year-old made the top five on the BBC sound of 2012 list, alongside winner Michael Kiwanuka, Frank Ocean, Skrillex and Niki & The Dove. The annual list aims to highlight the year's most promising new artists and is compiled using tips from music tastemakers.

Soul Legend Etta James Passes Away Aged 73...

US soul singer Etta James, best known for the tracks 'At Last' and for 'I'd Rather Go Blind', has died aged 73.

It was announced last year that the singer had been diagnosed with leukaemia and was undergoing treatment.

The star began singing in a group aged 14, before she embarked upon a solo career where she signed to the legendary Chess Records label.

She went on to win six Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.

Legendary producer Jerry Wexler once called her 'the greatest of all modern blues singers'.

'It's a tremendous loss for her fans around the world,' Lupe De Leon said. 'She'll be missed. A great American singer. Her music defied category.' James' manager said she died at Riverside Community Hospital in California with her husband and sons at her side.

Why Are Drake And Common Beefiing???

So I've had a few people and friends ask me how this whole Common and Drizzy beef started, so I did a lil' bit of investigating, and this is what I found...

1. The track 'Sweet' is released off of Commons new The Dreamer/The Believer LP. In the song Common makes reference to rappers that sing...

2. Word obviously got back to Drake, and he 'supposedly' addressed the issue whilst on stage in LA...

3. Common basically admits the song 'could' be about Drake in a radio interview with DJ/VJ Sway...

4. Drake then responds on the Rick Ross track 'Stay Schemin''...

5. Common then responds by putting his own verse on a 'Stay Schemin' remix remix...

And there you have it... I must admit, Common went INNNNN with his verse! I don't think this is over just yet.

I'll keep you informed...
